Gwen Washington

COLM Associate, Mrs. Gwendolyn Washington who has been volunteering with us for awhile now where ever she is needed. She is a faithful member of Abounding In Christ’s Love Ministries where the leaders are Pastors Walter and Marilyn Dean. She has dedicated her life to volunteerism, evangelism, outreach, and giving to others in her previous occupation as a nursing home administrator.

Sister Washington holds a B.A. degree in Sociology and is a licensed social worker with special training in management in the area of health care. She was able to put this specialized training to use with over 34 years of service with her former employer that afforded her the opportunity to serve the needs of others.

Several years after retiring she fulfilled her long time desire to attend Bible College and graduated from Charis Bible School in 2018.

Sister Washington says that volunteering is very important and that, “Volunteering allows me to befriend others and be a part of their blessings as God blesses me!” She validates her belief by quoting the biblical verses found in the Gospel of Mark 12:30-31, “And you shall love the Lord your God with all your heart, your soul, your mind, and with all your strength…you should love your neighbor as yourself.”

Along with volunteering, Mrs. Washington enjoys teaching Sunday school at her church, writing, art and crafts, and interior decorating. Her life points to her passion for living with purpose and her philosophy in life is, “Take chances…change is good. If you are afraid to step out of the boat, at least stand up in it! Don’t be afraid to experience the “waves of uncertainty,” while remaining rooted in the Word of God…knowing that He is with you always!

Her faith in God and love for people is the reason she is here today.
